Hi Students,
My name is Ms. Basiaga. Welcome to our class website! Please look around the site, check out the calendar and forum, and links. Pay close attention to your class's page and the calendar. I will post all homework as well as upcoming quizzes and tests to this site so make sure that you can access these. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. I know we're going to have a great year together.

Cheers,

Foundations in Physics 2011-2012
The Foundations in Physics course is designed to provide students with a background in the fundamental physics concepts in waves, sound, light, electricity, motion, momentum, and energy. These fundamental concepts are important in developing an appreciation of the physical world and for future success in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences courses. Students will learn how scientific knowledge is built, challenged, and revised as the result of increased understanding and technological advances. In addition, this course is designed to provide a foundation in the skills and habits needed to be successful in a challenging academic environment.

Foundation in Physics is a team-taught course. Contact information for both members of the teaching team is provided below.

AP Electricity & Magnetism 2011-2012
The AP Electricity and Magnetism Course is offered in order to provide students to study these topics in greater depth than in the Foundations course in the ninth grade. My focus is on providing high quality physics education in an environment that promotes student success. Electricity and Magnetism is a multi-layered class, where students can elect to take the Advanced Placement test in May.

In the fall semester, this course covers: static electricity, Coulomb's Law, electric field, electric potential, electric energy, capacitors, DC circuits, magnetism, electromagnetism, AC circuits and Maxwell's Equations. In the spring semester, students electing to take the advanced placement test will be expected to do additional work in the spring semester that explores concepts in greater depth and keeps them in practice for the AP exam.
