I am excited to share Spanish Language and culture with you. In a changing world, a solid grasp of a second language is not optional. Well within your lifetime you will find that knowing only one language is going to be a setback and that to be competitive in both the global job market and the world of academia, knowledge of a foreign language is simply essential. Furthermore, learning the idiosyncratic aspects and culture of a foreign language expands English literacy and provides you a more complete vision of the world we live in. This class is designed to prepare you for your future, so you can continue to maintain a firm grasp on the world we live in. I will maximize your learning to make this an enjoyable experience for each of us. I will be respectful and kind to you, enthusiastic and positive. Some of the questions we will address over the course of the year include:

• How and why does knowing a foreign language make you more competitive?
• How does knowing a foreign language enhance other skills you already have in English?
• What is globalization and how do foreign languages, specifically Spanish, play an integral part to the concept?


If there is anything that I can do to enhance your experience as one of my students, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will make myself available to you virtually any time. The only thing I ask is that you do not call after 10:00 p.m.
